Goal setting: Vision board

(message en français suivra)

This is how I reached one of my goals.

Since I can remember, my friend Jill and I have dreamed of doing something amazing to help improve the well-being of our community. We had so many ideas, but we didn't know where to begin.

We decided to make a vision board to remind us of our dreams and to help us stay on track with our goals.

A vision board is a collage of quotes, pictures and affirmations of ones dreams and desires.

Keep the end in mind

A vision board helps you stay on track. If you have a clear picture of what you want your results to look like, it will help you see the opportunities that come up in your life that will help you achieve those results.

If you dream about it, talk about it, make a plan about it, it will happen.

Dreams do come true

Synergi Physio is my dream come true. I've been in the healthcare system for years and for me, the environment never felt quite right.

I've had so many ups and downs about starting my own business. I knew that it was what I was meant to do.

But starting a business, not knowing anything about business is scary...and getting out of a full time job with benefits and comfort is even scarier.

It's not only getting out of the comfortable job that is unsettling. It's the fear of judgement that I felt as well.

Things won't always go according to plan

Being vulnerable is very hard to do. You're putting your ideas and your authentic self out there and you know that not everyone will agree with your values. Even if I knew deep down that I was doing the right thing, I still felt like I couldn't be who I truly needed to be to give the full experience of Synergi Physio I wanted to give.

Everything was on track. I had just hired an employee (Caroline) and was super excited. It was my first time hiring someone, so I was already nervous...

Then a pandemic hit...

My level of stress hit the roof. Even if I have all the tools that I need to reduce stress...my body just couldn't take it.

Life was telling me that I needed to slow down. This time...I had to listen...

Focus on other important things

While I had to slow down and heal, there were so many other things that needed my attention that wasn't in the clinic.

Caroline and I had a bunch of meetings to brainstorm about making a website and educational videos. We talked about what we could do to collaborate more with the Recreaplex and how both parties could thrive with a win-win attitude.

I also had the chance to focus on other goals. A few of my friends who have the same mission and similar goals as I met to talk about collaboration. This was eye opening, as I didn't realize how all of our expertise worked beautifully together. This sparked so much excitement and hope!

This pandemic was devastating for a lot of people and still is at the moment. But through all of it, I had time with myself. I read and listened to a lot of conferences to help me heal. I had time with my family. I had time to back up and look at the bigger picture of my life.

Through ups and downs, I am thankful for everything

With the support of my awesome friends and family, I got the courage I needed to get out of the broken health system.
